ScreenPal vs Loom (2026): Price, Limits, Best Fit
Vorec Team · 2026-10-24 · About 6 min read
Pick Loom if short async video messages are how your team talks, and pick ScreenPal if you make edited tutorials or lessons on a small budget: ScreenPal's displayed paid prices start at $4 a month, paid annually, against Loom Business at $18 per user a month. Both have a free plan. ScreenPal Free allows 15-minute recordings and 10 hosted videos; Loom Starter allows 25 videos per person of up to 5 minutes. Facts come from ScreenPal's plans page and Loom's pricing page, both read on 24 October 2026, plus Loom prices we checked on 6 October 2026. We did not test either product, and "not checked" means our reads do not cover it. Vorec, which publishes this page, is mentioned briefly near the end.

How do ScreenPal's prices actually bill?
Read the small print under each price. On 24 October 2026, ScreenPal's plan cards showed Deluxe at $4.00 a month and Max at $10.00 a month, each "paid annually", and Team Business at $8.00 a month "per user, paid annually", marked 20% off, for teams of three or more.
So the card price is not a month-to-month price. Our arithmetic from the displayed figures: Deluxe works out to $48 a year, Max to $120 a year, and Team Business to $96 per user a year. Monthly billing does exist: the plans page FAQ says ScreenPal offers monthly subscriptions for all Solo plans and for Team Business, and that you see the monthly price by clicking into a plan. The cards themselves show only the discounted annual rate, so we did not capture the monthly figures.
Loom shows both options. Its billing toggle offers monthly or annual, with annual saving up to 17%: Business is $18 per user a month or $180 a year, and Business + AI is $24 or $240. Our Loom pricing breakdown has team totals.
What does each free plan give you?
The two free plans limit different things.
ScreenPal Free caps each recording at 15 minutes and hosting at 10 videos, while the number of recordings is listed as unlimited. It includes easy video editing, webcam background blur, screenshot editing, 5 video quizzes, 3 channels, and 50 music and sound-effect tracks.
Loom Starter caps you at 25 videos per person and 5 minutes per screen recording, but lists meeting recordings as unlimited in length. It includes transcriptions in 50+ languages, comments and emoji reactions, and room for up to 50 workspace members.
If you record longer walkthroughs on your own, ScreenPal's 15-minute limit is the roomier one. If a small team swaps short updates, Loom's per-person allowance and shared workspace fit better.
Which is better for tutorials and teaching?
ScreenPal leans toward made-to-keep videos. Its plans page lists a full video editor from Deluxe, interactive video storyboards, script-based creation with a teleprompter, Google Slides and PDF import, and quizzes, polls and ratings (5 on Free and Deluxe, unlimited on Max and Team Business). It also offers LMS embedding and separate Education plans.
Loom leans toward communication. Business adds trim and stitch, basic waveform editing, uploads and downloads, and removing Loom branding. Editing by transcript and filler word removal sit on Business + AI.
For a lesson library with quizzes, ScreenPal's feature list is the closer match. For a sales or engineering team that wants a reply in someone's inbox within minutes, Loom is built for that.
What does a team of five pay per year?
Our arithmetic from prices displayed on 24 October 2026, annual billing:
- ScreenPal Team Business: 5 x $96 = $480 a year
- Loom Business: 5 x $180 = $900 a year
- Loom Business + AI: 5 x $240 = $1,200 a year
ScreenPal Team Business includes everything in Max, so its AI features are in that $480. On Loom, the AI suite is the $1,200 tier. Seat discounts, taxes and promotions were not checked.
Which should you choose?
Choose Loom if quick async video messages are a daily habit, or you want AI meeting notes, summaries and chapters inside a team workspace. Compare it with other messaging tools in our Loom vs Zoom Clips guide.
Choose ScreenPal if you teach, train or build tutorials, want quizzes and an editor, and are happy to pay annually for a lower price.
Choose on budget by looking at the annual totals. ScreenPal's Deluxe ($48 a year) is the cheapest paid plan here, and its free plan allows longer recordings. Loom's free plan suits short, frequent messages.
If neither fits, our best Loom competitors list and Descript vs Loom cover more options.

Where Vorec fits
With both tools, you usually talk while you record or write a script. If you want a polished narrated tutorial without recording your own voice, Vorec takes a different route. You record with its macOS recorder (an AI agent can drive the capture through the CLI) or upload an existing recording. AI drafts narration from what happens on screen and voices it, so no microphone is needed. The editor adds cursor-follow zoom, auto-zoom on clicks, and freeze-sync, which holds a frame while narration finishes. The same capture also produces a written step-by-step guide.
Vorec starts with a free trial: no credit card required. Paid plans are Starter at $9 a month or $86 a year, Pro at $24 or $230, and Business at $59 or $566. For another tutorial-focused comparison, see Loom vs Tella.
