Teachable Pricing 2026: Starter, Builder, Growth, Custom

Vorec Team · 2026-10-15 · About 8 min read

Teachable's cheapest plan costs $39 a month on monthly billing, but the number that matters more for many sellers is the 7.5% next to it. Starter takes a transaction fee on every sale; Builder, Growth and Custom list 0% when you use Teachable Payments. Whether Starter is actually the cheapest plan for you depends on how much you sell.

We read Teachable's pricing page in a browser on 15 October 2026, in both billing states, twice each. Every Teachable price, limit and fee below comes from that capture; Vorec's own prices come from our live plan catalogue. Where we calculated something, we show the arithmetic and say it is ours.

Verified 15 October 2026 from the rendered Teachable pricing page. The page's FAQ says all prices are in US dollars. We read it without a US billing address and did not check tax, so confirm the total at checkout.

Builder is badged "Popular". The yearly tab is labelled "22% OFF". Custom has no published price, and a separate box invites anyone "selling more than $12k/yr" to contact sales for special conditions.

Teachable pricing cards for Starter, Builder, Growth and Custom on monthly billing

What annual billing works out to

The stated savings match the monthly difference exactly: ($39 − $29) × 12 = $120, ($89 − $69) × 12 = $240, and ($189 − $139) × 12 = $600. The percentage is a different story. These figures are our arithmetic, not prices Teachable displays:

Plan12 × annual monthly figureSaving vs 12 monthly paymentsSaving as %
Starter$348$12025.6%
Builder$828$24022.5%
Growth$1,668$60026.5%

So the "22% OFF" label is closest to Builder; Starter and Growth work out to more. The 12 × figure assumes annual billing equals twelve times the displayed monthly equivalent. We did not reach checkout, so the invoiced annual totals are unverified.

What counts as a product. Teachable's FAQ says a published product is "any course, coaching offering, or digital download" you make live, and each counts as one product "regardless of how many videos, modules, or files it contains". Memberships and bundles don't count toward the limit, and neither do unpublished drafts. So Starter's 5 products is five live items in total, not five of each type.

Every plan card lists Create with AI, iOS and Android student apps, global payments and taxes, and upsells and cart recovery.

Builder adds 0% transaction fees, an affiliate program and real-time support.

Growth adds course certificates, removal of Teachable branding, imported students, custom admin permissions, and free subtitles and translations.

Custom lists a dedicated success manager, features for bulk sales, flexible product, student and admin seats, a sandbox school for testing, priority SLA-based support, automated international tax handling, white-glove onboarding and migration assistance.

One limit is easy to misread. "Unlimited" in the usage table applies to students enrolled through Teachable checkout. Importing existing students is a Growth feature, and the page we captured doesn't give a separate number for imported students.

Free trial, refunds and cancellation

Teachable's FAQ calls it "a paid service that includes a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee". There is no ongoing free plan on the page. We did not start a trial, so we can't say whether it asks for a card.

On refunds and cancellation, the page says:

Transaction and processing fees

Teachable separates two kinds of fee, and it's worth keeping them apart:

  1. Transaction fee (Teachable's platform cut). 7.5% on Starter. 0% on Builder, Growth and Custom when you use Teachable Payments. The FAQ says transaction fees apply "only on the Starter plan".
  2. Processing fees (card and PayPal costs). These appear in a "Processing fees" table under "Additional plan information":
Sale typeFee shown
US credit and debit card2.9% + 30¢
International credit and debit card3.9% + 30¢
US PayPal3.49% + 49¢
International PayPal4.99% + 49¢
Chargeback$15
BackOffice (optional)2–2.8%

The Payouts table lists daily payouts for Teachable Payments and monthly payouts for a monthly payment gateway.

When Starter stops being the cheapest plan

This is our arithmetic, using monthly billing and the transaction fee only; processing fees apply on every plan and are left out. Builder costs $50 more a month than Starter. Starter's 7.5% fee equals $50 at about $667 a month in sales ($50 ÷ 0.075). Above that, Builder's higher subscription costs less than Starter's fee. On annual billing the gap is $40 a month, so the break-even is about $533 a month in sales.

Monthly salesStarter: $39 + 7.5%Builder: $89 + 0%
$300$61.50$89.00
$667$89.03$89.00
$1,000$114.00$89.00
$3,000$264.00$89.00

The Builder column assumes you use Teachable Payments, since that's what the 0% depends on.

Where the lesson videos come from

Teachable hosts and sells the course, with up to 1TB of video storage on each published plan. The video lessons still have to be made somewhere, and for software and tool courses that usually means screen recordings with a voiceover. Recording silently and narrating afterwards, or re-recording whenever the voiceover goes wrong, is usually where the production time goes. Our guide on turning recordings into eLearning video content covers the workflow.

Vorec records your screen. It has its own macOS recorder, and an AI agent can drive it for you through the Claude Code plugin, capturing locally for you to review before anything is uploaded. It then drafts narration matched to the workflow it captured and generates the voiceover, so nothing is spoken into a microphone. In the editor you can add smooth cursor motion, cursor-follow zoom and click-based auto-zoom, and freeze-sync can hold a frame to give an explanation time to finish. The same capture can also produce a written step-by-step guide, with annotatable screenshots, and narration regenerates in supported languages on eligible plans, without re-recording. You can upload an existing recording instead if you already have one. You then export the video and upload it as a lesson in your course.

Vorec's prices, read from our live plan catalogue on 15 October 2026, are $9, $24 and $59 a month, or $86, $230 and $566 a year. There is a 7-day trial with 100 credits and no credit card required. The trial includes up to 3 projects, and exports carry a watermark. Details are on Vorec pricing.
