Adobe Captivate Pricing 2026: Individual, Teams, Education

Vorec Team · 2026-10-05 · About 6 min read

Adobe Captivate costs US$39.99 a month for an individual, on an annual subscription paid monthly. That works out to $479.88 over the 12-month commitment by our calculation. Teams, enterprises and schools buy through Adobe sales, and Adobe doesn't publish those prices.

Two things trip people up. First, the perpetual license many older guides still list has been discontinued. Second, the plans differ less in software than in generative AI credits. This guide covers both, using only what Adobe's own pages showed when we read them.

Verified 5 October 2026 from Adobe's rendered Captivate buying guide in a desktop browser with the United States region selected, read twice after the page settled, plus Adobe's Captivate FAQ. The individual price is labelled "US$" on the page. No trial, purchase or sales form was submitted, and taxes and checkout totals weren't checked.

The FAQ answers "What subscription plans are available?" with: "Adobe Captivate offers an annual subscription plan with a monthly payout." The page shows no cancel-anytime monthly plan and no annual-prepaid price.

What every plan includes

The buying guide says all plans include the new Adobe Captivate, Adobe Captivate Classic, 100GB of storage and generative credits. The credit allowance is where the plans split:

ProgramProducts and storageGenerative AI allowance
Individual subscriptionCaptivate, Captivate Classic, 100GB25 monthly generative credits
Team subscription (VIP)Same700 monthly premium generative credits, plus unlimited credits for Generate Image and Generate Text
Enterprise licenses (ETLA)SameSame as Team

Read the "unlimited" line narrowly. It covers Generate Image and Generate Text on Team and Enterprise only. For Generate Avatar, the individual program says to buy premium credits from the Adobe Firefly website.

The page doesn't say whether the Team figures are per user or pooled, and it doesn't publish rollover rules. Ask Adobe sales before you plan around them.

Teams, enterprise and education

Teams (VIP). Adobe's Value Incentive Plan is described as subscription licensing with "flexible terms and discount levels that increase as you make additional purchases". Licenses are named-user, managed in a web admin console. No seat minimum or discount schedule is shown.

Enterprise (ETLA). An Enterprise Term License Agreement runs "over a three-year term, with one annual payment due on the same date each year".

Education. "Eligible educational institutions can purchase licenses of Adobe Captivate at a discounted rate for students and instructors." No price is shown. Old education perpetual prices you may find elsewhere aren't a current offer.

Worked totals

These are our calculations from the displayed price, not Adobe quotes or checkout totals.

ScenarioTotal
1 individual, 12 monthly payments$479.88
1 individual, 24 months (assuming an unchanged renewal price)$959.76
3 people on individual subscriptions, 12 months$1,439.64

Three people buying separate individual subscriptions is just arithmetic. A team would normally go through VIP, where pricing is quoted and the credit allowance is different (700 premium credits against 25).

For context, our verified Articulate 360 pricing page, read the same day, shows Articulate 360 AI Personal at $1,449 a year. That is $969.12 more than a year of Captivate's individual payments. Articulate's page shows dollar signs rather than a "US$" label, so check the currency at checkout. The two suites aren't equivalent products, so treat this as a budget reference, not a value judgment.

The free trial: 30 days

The FAQ links to an "Adobe Captivate free 30-day trial". We didn't check whether a card is required or how the trial converts.

The perpetual license is discontinued

The FAQ is explicit: "Perpetual licenses for Adobe Captivate have now been discontinued. You can purchase subscription licenses for individuals, teams or enterprises."

Articles that quote a one-time Captivate price, or a lower monthly figure, are describing older offers. Don't budget from them.

Which Captivate do you get?

The subscription includes two apps, and Adobe's own comparison chart on the buying guide explains the split:

So if video demos are part of your plan, the chart places that use case in Captivate Classic for now.

Is Adobe Captivate worth it?

Our reading, not Adobe's: Captivate's own chart positions it around software simulations and interactive eLearning. At US$39.99 a month for one author, it costs less per year than per-seat course suites like Articulate 360. The trade-offs are a 12-month commitment, a small individual AI allowance of 25 credits a month, and quote-only pricing for teams.

If your learners mostly watch how something is done rather than practise it in a simulation, compare it with a screen-recording tool first. Our Camtasia vs Captivate vs Articulate guide covers that decision, and our Camtasia pricing page uses the same verification method as this one.

Where Vorec fits

Captivate builds simulations and courses. Vorec makes narrated tutorials of real software. It records your screen with its own macOS recorder, and an AI agent can drive it for you through the Claude Code plugin, capturing locally for you to review before anything is uploaded. It then drafts narration matched to the workflow it captured and generates the voiceover, so nothing is spoken into a microphone.

In the editor you can add smooth cursor motion, cursor-follow zoom and click-based auto-zoom. Freeze-sync can hold a frame to give an explanation time to finish. The same capture can also produce a written step-by-step guide with annotatable screenshots, and narration regenerates in supported languages on eligible plans.

Vorec focuses on screen-recorded tutorials and written guides. Teams that need graded software simulations and interactive eLearning should evaluate Captivate for that.

Vorec's own plans, read live from our billing settings: a 7-day trial with 100 credits and no credit card, then Starter at $9 a month, Pro at $24 and Business at $59, or $86, $230 and $566 a year.
