Vorec vs Tutorial AI (2026): Narrated Screen Tutorials
Vorec Team · 2026-10-26 · About 7 min read
Tutorial AI and Vorec start from the same input, a silent screen recording, and end with a narrated tutorial plus a written guide. Where they part ways is who they are built around. Tutorial AI is a team training platform: a recorder for Windows and macOS, narration you edit like a document, documentation export, a translation workflow, SCORM packages on Enterprise, and seat-based plans with a yearly allowance of generated video minutes. Vorec is built around capture precision: a macOS recorder (or a browser upload from any OS), detection of each on-screen action, capture an AI agent can drive through a CLI with a local review before anything uploads, an editor with zoom, cursor and freeze-sync controls, and credit-based plans.
Vorec publishes this page. Tutorial AI facts come from tutorial.ai's homepage, features page, pricing page and its own llms.txt, read on 26 October 2026. We did not test Tutorial AI, so we compare stated features and prices, not output quality. Tutorial AI was previously called VideoScripter; its logo still carries "formerly VideoScripter".

Is Tutorial AI better for team training?
For many training teams, yes. It targets Learning & Development, support and sales enablement, and several features serve mainly that audience:
- SCORM packages. On Enterprise, a published video can be packaged as SCORM 1.2 or 2004 with per-learner completion tracking, ready for an LMS. Vorec cannot do this.
- Translation at scale. Tutorial AI describes a translation workflow it calls AutoRetime, which adjusts timing when a translated script runs longer or shorter, plus one embed player where viewers switch language. Both are listed from the Growth plan.
- Review without paid seats. Every plan includes guest seats (3, 5 or 10) for viewing and commenting, with time-stamped comments.
- Brand controls. The Team plan adds a brand kit, custom fonts and a pronunciation lexicon.
If your tutorials must land in an LMS with tracking, or ship in many languages, Tutorial AI covers ground Vorec does not. For the broader craft of planning a course, our guide on how to make a training video applies whichever tool you choose.
Where does Vorec fit better?
Vorec suits people who make software tutorials often and need every click to read clearly.
Agent-driven capture. If an AI coding agent builds or changes your product, it can also record the walkthrough: it drives the Vorec Recorder through the CLI, the take stays on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded or charged until you approve it. Tutorial AI's MCP link differs: an assistant edits scripts and slides in existing projects. We explain the agent workflow in AI agent screen recording.
Action-level timing. Vorec finds each on-screen action and writes narration against it. Freeze-sync then holds the frame whenever a line needs more time, so the voice never trails the screen. Cursor-follow zoom and click auto-zoom keep small controls readable.
Vorec also produces a written step-by-step guide from the same take; see one recording, a tutorial video and a written guide. Tutorial AI offers the same pairing, so this one is a tie.
What if my team uses Windows?
Tutorial AI has the clearer answer. It ships a desktop recorder for both Windows and macOS, plus a Chrome extension. Vorec's recorder is macOS only. Windows users can still use Vorec by recording with any tool they like and uploading the file in the browser, where the action detection, narration and editor work the same way. The agent-driven capture flow is Mac only, though.
How much does each cost?
Tutorial AI's pricing page opens with the Annual toggle switched on ("Save 30%+") and says all prices are in USD. The figures below are those annual-toggle prices; we did not capture what monthly billing costs.
- Solo: $18 per seat per month. 1 editor seat, 3 guest seats, Windows and macOS recorder, unlimited projects, 1080p export, 2 hours of video exports a year.
- Growth: $64 per seat per month. Adds 4K, Translation Workflow, multilingual embed player, advanced AI voices, iPhone/iPad recording. 6 hours of exports a year.
- Team: $108 per month. 2 editor seats, 10 guest seats, brand kit, pronunciation lexicon, custom fonts. 12 hours of exports a year.
- Enterprise: custom. Adds SCORM, voice cloning, custom AI voices, multiple workspaces.
The comparison table also lists generated video minutes of 10, 30 and 60 a month on monthly billing, versus 2, 6 and 12 hours a year on annual.
Vorec has no free plan, only the free trial. Paid plans are Starter $9/mo or $86/yr (150 credits, 5 projects, 10-minute source videos, 1080p), Pro $24/mo or $230/yr (500 credits, 30 projects, 20-minute videos, 4K) and Business $59/mo or $566/yr (1,500 credits, unlimited projects, 30-minute videos, 4K, 5 team seats, API access).
Worked example: one creator, 1080p
- Tutorial AI Solo: $18 a month on the annual toggle, about $216 across 12 months, covering 2 hours of exported video for the year.
- Vorec Starter: $86 a year, or $9 a month. Credit usage depends on your recordings, so measure a few real ones in the trial.
Need 4K or translation as a solo creator? Tutorial AI Growth is $64 a month (about $768 over a year). Vorec Pro is $230 a year and includes 4K plus translation into all supported languages.
Worked example: a small team with two editors
- Tutorial AI Team: $108 a month on the annual toggle, with 2 editor seats, 10 guest seats and 12 hours of exports a year.
- Vorec Business: $59 a month or $566 a year, with 5 team seats and 1,500 credits a month.
If those editors need a pronunciation lexicon or SCORM (Enterprise), only Tutorial AI has them.
