Synthesia vs InVideo (2026): Avatars or AI Clips?

Vorec Team · 2026-10-23 · About 5 min read

Synthesia turns a script into a video read by an AI presenter, and its higher plans lean toward company training with branching, quizzes and SCORM. InVideo is an AI video generator and editor: its credits pay for generated clips and images from models such as Seedance and Nano Banana, which you then cut on a full timeline with stock clips or your own footage. InVideo's entry plan costs $9 a month to Synthesia's $29, but they meter usage too differently for sticker prices to compare.

Sources: InVideo's pricing page captured 1 October 2026 and Synthesia's captured 10 October 2026 (entry row re-read 20 October). The InVideo capture is three weeks older. Prices are dollars as displayed, without checkout or product tests; "Not checked" marks what the captures leave open. Vorec publishes this page and appears near the end.

On Synthesia, the Studio Avatar row listed Enterprise only in the monthly view but Starter, Pro and Enterprise in the yearly view. We report the difference rather than choose one.

How each one spends your allowance

Synthesia runs video, dubbing and survey responses off one credit balance. The FAQ estimates about 100 credits per finished minute and warns that avatar and content change the real figure, so the Starter card's "up to ~12" extra minutes a month is an estimate. Dubbing has no settled rate: the FAQ says 40 credits a minute (80 with lip sync) while the calculator shows 76. Monthly credits do not roll over, annual credits arrive upfront, and purchased extras last 12 months.

InVideo charges per generation, by model, and says credits pay for creation, not downloads. Examples from its comparison: Seedance 2.0 Fast 720p costs about 30 credits per 5 seconds, Seedance 2.0 1080p about 38. At 1,000 Pro credits that 1080p model gives 1,000 / 38 = 26 clips, which is 26 x 5 = 130 seconds of generated footage, not a finished-video limit. Unused credits normally do not roll over; Enterprise advertises rollover. How annual credits are allocated is not explained in the capture.

Which to choose

Pick Synthesia if you need a talking presenter for onboarding, compliance or product training, in many languages, and a matrix that grows into branching, quizzes and SCORM.

Pick InVideo if you want generated b-roll, scenes and images plus an editor to cut them together, with 4K export and lots of collaborators on one paid seat. Basic only includes selected models; Pro and Ultra list all of them.

PlanMonthly billing x 12Annual billing
Synthesia Starter$29 x 12 = $348$18 x 12 = $216
Synthesia Pro (6,000 credits)$89 x 12 = $1,068$64 x 12 = $768
InVideo Basic (190 credits)$9 x 12 = $108$108 billed
InVideo Pro (1,000 credits)$30 x 12 = $360$216 billed
InVideo Ultra (3,000 credits)$72 introductory, renews $80; $80 x 12 = $960$480 billed

Synthesia annual figures are our arithmetic from displayed monthly equivalents, not checkout totals. InVideo annual figures are the billed totals shown on its page; we use them instead of rounded monthly equivalents because some do not multiply out exactly (Pro 2x: $50 x 12 = $600, but $598 billed). InVideo did not show how long the Ultra introductory price lasts.

Where Vorec fits

Vorec works from screen recordings rather than avatars or generated clips. Record with its macOS app or upload a capture, and it drafts narration matched to each on-screen step, generates the voiceover, and can turn the same capture into a written guide. Plans start with a free trial: no credit card required. After that, Starter is $9, Pro $24 and Business $59 a month.
