Storylane vs Navattic (2026): At the HTML Tier, Same Price

Vorec Team · 2026-09-17 · 7 min read

A disclosure first: this is published by Vorec, which makes a narrated-video tool, and there is a Vorec pitch at the end. Judge the numbers on their own — they come from Storylane's plans page and Navattic's pricing page, verified in a rendered browser on 16 September 2026.

Also worth knowing: a large share of search results comparing this pair are published on storylane.io. Check the domain before trusting any comparison of these two — including this one.

The Comparison Everyone Repeats, And Why It Misleads

You will frequently see "Storylane from $40, Navattic from $500 — 12x cheaper."

Both numbers are real. The comparison is not, because the HTML demo editor is not on Storylane's $40 tier. It arrives on Growth, at $500 annually.

Line up the tiers that contain the same capability:

StorylaneNavattic
5 seats + HTML demos, annualGrowth $500Base $500
10 seats, annualGrowth $500 + 5 extra seats at $100 = $1,000Growth $1,000

Identical at the HTML tier, and identical again at ten seats — Storylane Growth permits additional seats at $100 each, so reaching ten users does not require Premium. You move to Premium for its feature bundle (Salesforce, multi-language demos, SSO, whitelabel), not for headcount.

The genuine Storylane advantage is at the bottom: if you do not need HTML editing, $40–50 a month buys unlimited published demos. Among Navattic's standard published plans there is nothing between Free and Base at $500, though Navattic does advertise a startup plan whose pricing is not published — worth asking about if you qualify.

Native Apps Are Handled Differently

Worth knowing before you evaluate either for a non-web product: Navattic directs mobile and desktop native apps to Media Captures, using images, GIFs and videos rather than HTML capture. That is not the same as a native desktop recorder, and it is not HTML capture of a native app — so if you are documenting a desktop application rather than a web product, test that path specifically before committing.

What You Get At Each $500

Navattic Base front-loads sales tooling: premium AI voiceovers, 100 minutes of AI avatars, and 25+ integrations including Salesforce and Marketo, at the first paid tier.

Storylane Growth front-loads demo production: HTML demo editor, 125 minutes of AI avatar, personalisation tokens, A/B testing, multi-teams.

Storylane puts Salesforce, SSO and multi-language on Premium ($1,200). Navattic puts SSO, translation and custom domains on Growth ($1,000) and CRM integrations on Base ($500).

If Salesforce integration and SSO matter, Navattic reaches them at a lower tier. Storylane does offer HubSpot and Zapier on Starter, so this is about which CRM you use, not CRM integration in general.

Both Free Tiers Are Real

Each gives 1 seat and 1 published demo with unlimited views. Navattic's adds capture editing and basic analytics; Storylane's adds basic AI content assistant and voiceovers plus lead capture.

Either is a genuine trial rather than a locked preview. Use them.

Where Vorec Fits

Both platforms export beyond the click-through demo. Navattic exports demos as video or GIF with timed steps; Storylane exports MP4, PDF and SOP formats. Storylane also documents uploaded video with AI-generated narration scripts and voiceovers. We are not claiming either lacks these.

Vorec is a different starting point rather than a missing capability. Record a workflow silently and the AI detects each click, writes narration matched to what happens on screen, and generates the voiceover. Freeze-sync holds the frame when a point needs longer than the recording allows. The same recording also produces a written help article, and narration regenerates in other languages without re-recording.

Plans start at $9/month with a free trial of 200 credits; trial exports carry a watermark. It has a multi-track timeline editor with zoom, cursor and caption layers. It does not build interactive click-through demos, which is the job both platforms above are designed for.

Who Should Pick What

Choose Storylane if: you do not need HTML editing and want a real paid tier under $100, or you want Media to Demo at the low end.

Choose Navattic if: you need Salesforce integration, premium AI voice or SSO — all of which arrive a tier earlier than on Storylane.

Choose a narration tool as well if: the same product knowledge has to serve onboarding, support and documentation.

Bottom Line

At the tier where these two genuinely compete, they cost the same. The widely repeated 12x gap compares Storylane's non-HTML entry tier against Navattic's HTML tier.

Decide on where capability sits in each range — Navattic reaches CRM and SSO earlier; Storylane offers a genuinely cheap tier if HTML editing is not required.

This article was corrected twice. An earlier version repeated the $40-vs-$500 framing uncritically; a second version wrongly claimed Navattic does not publish its prices, which was a failure of our own page-extraction tooling rather than a fact about Navattic. Both vendors publish everything except Enterprise.
